PHIL-5004: Graduate Proseminar in Philosophy

Description: Develop key professional skills (writing, research, effective presenting, critical discussion). Gain familiarity with influential arguments and concepts from classic readings from 20th and 21st century analytic philosophy (including readings from metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of mind and language, philosophy of science and mathematics, ethics, political philosophy, feminist philosophy, and the philosophy of race). Conduct independent philosophical research using appropriate databases. Learn how to produce abstracts, conference-length papers, and professional documents (e.g., annotated bibliographies, personal statements, curriculum vitae (CV)) in a way that coheres with philosophy’s professional norms.
