ME-6454: Microfluidics and Nanofluidics
Description: Scaling considerations for fluid and particulate transport at micro- and nanoscales. Surface effects in nanoscale fluid and ion transport. Liquid and ion transport driven by electrical fields and interfacial forces, including linear and nonlinear electroosmosis, diffusioosmosis, thermoosmosis, and surface conduction. Nanoscale gas transport, including Knudsen diffusion, slip flows, and surface diffusion. Nanoscale ionic transport. Electrokinetic and magnetic manipulation of particles (electrophoresis, dielectrophoresis, diffusiophoresis, thermophoresis, magnetophoresis, and magnetic surface walkers). Applications of microfluidics and nanofluidics in biochemical and energy fields.
