ME-5324: Radiation Heat Transfer
Description: Introduction to thermal radiation; the electromagnetic spectrum; the blackbody; wave phenomena versus geometric optics; polarization, diffraction, and refraction effects; emission, reflection, absorption, and transmission of thermal radiation by surfaces; radiant interchange among surfaces; radiation through a participating medium; the Monte Carlo raytrace method; uncertainty and confidence interval of results. Knowledge of thermodynamics at the undergraduate level is recommended.
