HIST-5934: Gender in U.S. History
Description: Theoretical approaches to understanding the role of gender in political, economic and social life and in popular culture. Survey of major themes and developments since the seventeenth century. Concentration on the development of biological and sociological explanations of gender differences and similarities, and on the evolution of gendered politics and work and family relationships. Emphasis given to class, race, ethnic differences and differences in sexual orientation.
