ESM-6714: Applied Tensor Analysis
Description: Basis vectors, Christoffel symbols, metric tensor. Covarient, contravarient vectors and tensors. Covarient differentiation. Orthonormal systems and physical components of tensors. Surface tensors, curvature tensors, principal curvatures, geodesics and asymptotic lines. The basic ideas will be illustrated by and applied to problems in continuum mechanics, solid and fluid mechanics, rigid body dynamics, and electromagnetic theory.
