ESM-5334: Interfacial Fluid Mechanics

Description: Interfacial fluid systems involving surface tension, interfacial hydrodynamics, and phase-change heat transfer. Scaling analysis and non-dimensionalization will be used to mode a variety of interfacial phenomena relevant to fluid mechanics and phase-change heat transfer. Capillarity, surface wettability, hydrodynamics of interfaces, flow instabilities, long range forces, convective and diffusive boundary layers, homogeneous and heterogeneous nucleation, and multiphase flows. Pre: Graduating standing.
