CEE-5344: Surface Water-Groundwater Interaction
Description: Interaction (exchange) of surface water with groundwater at watershed, reach, sediment-patch scales including bidirectional hyporheic flows. Focus on streams and rivers, consideration of lakes. Steady and unsteady exchange hydraulics including laminar and turbulent flows. Exchange benefits and engineering goals including heat transfer, nutrient processing, and contaminant attenuation. Engineering applications including conjuctive use of surface water and groundwater resources and impact of groundwater pumping on rivers. Field methods.
