ART-2524: Introduction To Painting

Description: Exploration of painting practices within a studio-focused environment as they relate to art and design in contemporary culture as well as historical methods. Development of foundational painting skills and an understanding of various painting media. Deliberate practice of visual language and formal ideas using painting media with a focus on material, line, shape, color, and two-dimensional composition. Interpretation of visual culture through the application of critical analysis methods. Encompasses observation-based techniques, experimental processes, and abstract approaches. Lecture (1H,1C), Lab (3L, 1C), Design Lab/Studio (2L, 1C). (1H, 5L, 3C). RESOURCE CHARGE: $75
