Description: Aerothermodynamic phenomena and shock waves. Linearized subsonic and supersonic flow past planar surfaces and bodies of revolution. Theory of transonic aerodynamics including study of mixed flow. Similarity laws. Mathematical representation of inviscid compressible flows in equilibrium. Potential function, stream function, rotationality and geometrical considerations. Method of characteristics applied to hyperbolic flow fields.
