AOE-4034: Introduction to Mechanical and Structural Vibrations
Description: Free and forced vibrations of single-degree-of-freedom systems, multi-degree-of-freedom systems, and continuous systems. Natural frequencies and mode shapes. Proportional and nonproportional damping. Response to harmonic, periodic, and nonperiodic excitations. Boundary-value problem for continuous systems. Eigenvalue problem for rods, beams, and plates. Vibration response of system in modal coordinates. Approximate methods including Assumed Modes, the Rayleigh-Ritz method, and Method of Weighted Residuals.
